Bay State Battle
Aiming to avenge the 1932 defeat at the hands of the Greater Boston All-Stars, the All-Rhode Island schoolboy hockey team faced off against the Bay State All-Stars in March 1933 at the Boston Arena in game 1 of their two-game series. Throughout the 51 minutes of play, the two teams played spectacular hockey ending in a 4-4 tie after a six-minute overtime period Henri Gauron of Mount St. Charles scored 3 goals while Ken Phillips of Cranston High School tallied the other Rhode Island marker. Goalie Ed Thayer stopped 13 shots in the game. In the second meeting between the teams they met at the R.I. Auditorium. A brilliant attack from the start of the game to the last second enabled the Rhode Island All-Stars to hang up a 3-1 victory.

The victory gave the Rhode Islanders a 7-5 advantage in total goals. Gauron was once again a leading factor scoring two of the three goals while Charlie Gardiner of Warwick sewed the game up with a brilliant solo dash in the third period. Starting from behind his own cage, Gardiner worked his way through the entire Bay State team and culminated his efforts by lifting the puck over the opposing goalie's outstretched arm and into the cage.
