Dunnes of Cranston
The Dunnes of Cranston were 1945-46 Rhode Island Senior Amateur Hockey League champions beating the potent P & Q of Woonsocket 7-6 (George Desaulniers, Andre Tremblay and Bob Peloquin) and sweeping the best of five series. They repeated as league champs beating P & Q again 7-4 in 1946-47. Coached by Dick Rondeau, they played in the 1947 New England AAU championships beating Arlington Arcadians, Basco of Cambridge and West Medford before losing to Boston A.A. in the finals 9-2 at the Rhode Island Auditorium. At the National AAU Championships, also at the Rhode Island Auditorium, Dunnes beat Middlebury, CT before losing in the semi-finals to the eventual champion Hanover Indians (George Pullium, Jack Kilmartin, Ralph Warburton) 12-2. The top scoring line of Ted Doorley, Jimmy Reynolds and Rollie Benjamin along with Don Mellor led the Dunnes.
