RI Scarlets 1930s
In 1931-32 Hubert Milot took over the reins of the Rhode Island Amateur Hockey Club and the team was newly christened the Rhode Island Scarlets. Ev Gardiner was manager. The clashed with Boston Hockey Club (MA), Union Boat Club (MA), Cape Cod Collegians (MA), New Haven Indians (CT), Bronx HC (NY), West Point AC, Brae Burn (MA), New Bedford Gar Woods (MA) and North Cambridge (MA) teams. They lost to the Polish Olympic team at the Auditorium in February 3-2 and dropped a 10-1 decision to the Fredericton Millionaires of New Brunswick Canada. They won the 1932 NEAAU championship beating the defending champion Nashua Hockey Club 1-0 for the crown. The NEAAU Championship played at the RI Auditorium featured some of the best barnstorming teams in hockey's early history including the legendary Amesbury Maples from northeastern Massachusetts. Later that season they became the first Rhode Island team to compete for the Senior National Championship at MSG in New York. Stars included Jimmy "Ace" Hart (Hope), Howie Crins (Technical), George "Pud" Quirk (Hope) and Clem Harnedy (LaSalle).

Paddy Byrne took over the Scarlets in the 1932-33 season. They played in the 1934 N.E..A.A.U. Championship at the R.I. Auditorium beating Milton Blue Hill Granites 2-1 before losing in the semi-finals 6-2 to City Club of Cambridge. They continued to play prominent senior clubs through the decade including the Boston Hockey Club (MA), Boston Olympics (MA), Lewiston Cyclones (ME), Wyandotte HC (ME), Yale Jayvees, Mountain Lakes HC (NJ), Hershey B'ars (PA) and the Valleyfield Braves of Canada.
