Massachusetts Hockey League
The MHL, formerly known as the South Shore Amateur Hockey League, included many of the top former high school and college players from Rhode Island including Don Hebert, Dick Ernst, Alan Soares, John Kennedy, Tom Woodcock, Lou Lamoriello, Ed Stahowiak, Lee Hathaway and Ray Ruggieri. The MHL also included Massachusetts brothers Harold, Butch and Wally Songin, Olympic & National players Dick Rodenhiser, Bill Cleary and Ed & Jack Kirrane. In the 1968-69 season the league became the New England Hockey League and continued to attract some Rhode Island amateur stars.
