Bryant College
Bryant College (now Bryant University) began NCAA play in 1973-74 under coach Bob Reall compiling a 5-4 record in ECAC Division III league play and 7-5 overall. The team practiced and played their home games at the Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink. The following season was their best showing as they finished third in the standings with a 10-2-0 record and captured the 1975 ECAC Division III championship by beating North Adams State 6-4 in the finals of the ECAC tournament at Middleton, Conn. led by stellar goaltending by freshman goaltender Bob Fisette (Woonsocket). Fisette was named tournament MVP for his performance. The following season they moved up to ECAC Division II finishing out of the tournament with a 5-6-0 record and 14-10-0 overall. The 1979-80 season would be their final season as they compiled a 7-18-0 record. The Athletic Department dropped the varsity program in 1980 stating that the cost of operating hockey had escalated and took up too large a portion of the varsity sports budget at the school.
