RI Amateur Hockey Club
Formed in December 1930, the team was an All-Star team of Rhode Island's best hockey players (from the East Side Hockey Club and other strong local teams) assembled by coach "Curley" Oden. Rhode Island Amateur Hockey Club (also called the Providence Amateur Hockey Club) competed against St. Mary's College of Winona (WI), University Club of Boston, Quincy Rangers (MA), Revere Hockey Club (MA), Union Boat Club (MA), Brockville Club (MA), Manville All- Stars (RI), Cape Cod Collegians (MA) and the New Haven Indians (CT). They bowed out of the 1931 N.E.A.A.U. tournament in the quarter-finals losing to Brae Burn (MA) 2-1 and competed in the 2nd Annual New England Open Amateur Tournament at the RI Auditorium losing to Gloucester 1-0. Howie Crins, Clint Owen, Dud Shallcross, Frank Dowling, Paul Jolly, Ernie Pride, the Mortenson brothers (Eric "Pee Wee" and Gunnar), Fred Cuddy and goalie Jimmy Allen led the team.
