Providence Chicks
1951-52 Providence Chicks played in the R.I. Amateur Hockey Association in a seven-team league at the R.I. Auditorium.
1953-54 Providence Chicks featured several former RI high school stars from the 1940's and early 1950's. They faced off in the New England Hockey League against Massachusetts’s Feloney Club of Cambridge (1953 National Senior AHA Champions), Dedham, Worcester teams and the New Haven Flyers of Connecticut. Player/Coach Henry Coupe led the Chicks. |
1964-65 Providence Chicks (Don Hebert, Dick Ernst, Ray Ruggieri, Ed Stahowiak, Lee Hathaway, Larry Kish, Jack McGeough, Hank Konerko, Matty Filler and Coach Harvey Bennett Sr. among others) were given access to Rhode Island Reds uniforms by owner Lou Pieri, played at the RI Auditorium and were coached by Harvey Bennett Sr. They played top teams in the East, including the Manchester Alpine Club (NH), competed in tournaments in Berlin (NH), Lewiston (ME), Melrose (MA) and Lynnfield (MA) and in the Massachusetts Hockey League (1964-65).
