P & Q of Woonsocket
Roy T. Sherwood's P & Q Clothiers of Woonsocket played in the Rhode Island Senior Hockey League in the 1945-46 and 1946-47 seasons. Former Hope High and Brown University star (and future Burrillville High coach) Tom Ecclecston was player/coach in 1945-46 and Henry Lambert managed the team in 1946-47. They were led by the Desaulniers brothers; Bob and George, Bob Peloquin, Red Dawber, George Menard, Rollie O'Reilly and Andre Tremblay. P & Q were runners-up in both seasons. They finished tied with Dunnes of Cranston in 1945-46. The Dunnes beat P & Q 7-6 sweeping in the best of five series. They finished in second place the next season and lost 7-4 in the finals to the Dunnes of Cranston once gain. They then qualified for the NEAAU Championships with the Dunnes, Arlington Arcadians, Winthrop Windsors, Basco of Cambridge, Hingham Cove, BAA of Boston, and West Medford at the Auditorium bowing in the quarter-finals to West Medford 8-2. They also barnstormed against teams in the East including Hingham, MA and Sacred Hearts of Concord, NH.
